The Discovery Children's Museum is a
58,000-square-foot center situated in Las Vegas, Nevada which is Formerly known
as Lied Discovery Children Museum, this three-story children’s museum is
situated nearby The Smith Center in Downtown Las Vegas. The objective of
Discovery Children’s Museum is to give a brilliant and interesting experience,
through shows and programs, where children from economically and culturally
different backgrounds definitely take part in playful learning activities that
spark a love of lifelong learning.
Lied Discovery Children Museum was
established by Robin Greenspun and Mark Tratos, who organized a collaboration
between the Junior League of Las Vegas and the Allied Art Council founding a
private, nonprofit educational institution in 1984. In 1985, a bond granted to
approve the building of the Las Vegas-Clark County Library and Lied Discovery
Children’s Museum, which opened up its doors on September 9, 1990.
In 2010 the museum declared strategies to
build and take up a new home and bigger home in Symphony Park. The overall for
the Donald W. Reynolds Discovery Center project was $50 million. In August
2010, the Donald W. Reynolds Foundation declared a gift to The Smith Center to
spend for the finalization of its block in Symphony Park. $43 million of that
present was utilized to develop the Donald W. Reynolds Discovery Center. The
museum brought up the left over $7 million required to finish the project. The
new museum started out on March 9, 2013.

Public Transportation
RTC Transit offers a number of convenient
and affordable options that allow museum goers to arrive and depart from the
museum quickly and without fighting traffic. The RTC boasts one of the newest
fleets in the nation with vehicles that are sleek, safe and clean. Most Express
routes take 30-45 minutes, which is equivalent to or, in some cases, even
quicker than driving your own vehicle. For locals with valid Nevada IDs, a
single ride anywhere within the system is $2 and a 24-hour all-access pass is

If you are coming from outlying areas of
the Las Vegas valley:
The RTC’s Westcliff Area Express (WAX)
route and the Centennial Express (CX) route both provide express service to the
Museum. WAX deploys from Westcliff Transit Center and Park & Ride (25. S.
Durango Dr.) and CX begins its route at the Centennial Hills Transit Center and
Park & Ride (7313 Grand Montecito Pkwy.) Both sites allow patrons to park
their vehicles at a safe site to board transit services into the inner Las
Vegas area.
The closest drop-off location is the
Bonneville Transit Center, which is located 0.5 mile from the Museum (10 minute
walk). Routes serving the Bonneville Transit Center (BTC) include: 105, 106,
108, 109, 206, 207, 208, 214, 215, Deuce and BHX.

Discovery Children's Museum Fees
For ages 1 to 99 : $14.50
Free : Members and children younger than one year
old; adults 100+ years old. Children under 13 years of age must be accompanied
by an adult aged 18 years or older. Adults are welcome without a child,
however they have leave their license/ID
with Admissions during their visit.
