Peranakan Museum

The Peranakan Museum is a art gallery in Singapore focusing on Peranakan culture. A sister museum to the Asian Civilizations Museum, it is the 1st of its kind in the world, that considers Peranakan cultures in Singapore and other previous Straits Agreements in Malacca and Penang, and other Peranakan neighborhoods in Southeast Asia. It is located in the Old Tao Nan School building at Armenian Street, which offered as an prolonged wing to the art n craft collection of Asian Civilizations Museum.

On January 1, 2006 the Museum, known then as ACM 1 closed the Armenian Street wing for a major update. At its closing, the museum administration decided Peranakan culture concept over a kid's museum and a China ceramic museum as their new highlight in the Tao Nan School space. This allowed the Museum to home the world's most unique and extensive Peranakan museum range of relics and items, with a prospective yearly visitorship numbers of 112,000 people. Also, the renovate enabled 25 per cent more event space for contextual exhibits for various factors of Peranakan home and lifestyle.
